Made some homeless dude really happy

Sometime last week I'm driving home, and a homeless guy is at an intersection holding a sign that says all his gear was stolen, that he's in desparate need of a sleeping bag, etc. I immediately recall that I have an old sleeping bag, so I roll down my window and ask him if he's going to be in the area for the next couple of hours. He says yes,

when I worked on the Drag (I was at the Co-Op bookstore fhe first summer I lived here, before the school year started) I adopted most of the kids; I made them sandwiches and bought them bottled water and just sorta hung out with a lot of them. i miss doing that. a LOT.

Turns out the people collecting for some church or other had run the homeless off the street corners

Wow...nothing says "Jesus" like running off the poor. I wonder if any of them even understood the irony and hypocrisy.

That was a very nice thing for you to do. You'll get into Heaven far easier than anyone in that church group.

Heh, except I don't *want* to go to heaven. ;) There should be far more interesting places to go, if one can go anywhere at all.
