It's like the gay romance novel I always wanted

It's not often that my search of the internet brings me goodies, but when it does, they are always the best goodies. I found a link to what was being touted as "original vampire slash" on delicious.com. Given that I am a masochist sometimes, I clicked on the link and started reading ( Read more... )

Ooh! My only knowledge of those books is from the 1x2 GW fics a friend of mine has written in the Carpathian 'verse. Thanks for the rec!

Merula's fics are archived here. The fic is Dark Bond (and there is also Dark Bond Redone. I think she actually added an end this summer, but it isn't archived yet.)

Enjoy! I really like Merula's writing. Nothing earth-shattering, but always fun, lots of interesting cross-overs, lots of cliff-hanging chapter endings, and always, always a happy ending. She embraces her cliches and writes because it is fun.

Ooh - I didn't know the Carpathian 'verse, and the premise sounds as lame as you say (I keep getting stuck on wondering where all those angsty young men come from in the first place, if there are that few women). And the slash is a perfect, obvious solution :D

But I checked out Dark Deviance, and the author is right, it is actually quite decent. Thanks for the link!

Author of said "fan" fic here! I found your post when I was trying to figure out how I was the #2 google hit for "dark deviance" when I had advertised it exactly nowhere (although my copilot says I should link it on Feehan's forum, hah), and it made my evening. I am very happy that you enjoyed it, since I wrote it to entertain my roommate and expected it to appeal to an audience of, oh, one -- seriously, it's a slash fanfic of a heterosexual (not to mention REALLY BAD) romance novel series, featuring an original character as the love interest. Fuck, if I came across that summary on the internet, I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot-pole.

Basically, I only write fanfic when people piss me off. I find the whole lifemates thing offensive (predestination in general gives me hives, I'M LOOKING AT YOU, CALVINISM), not to mention a worldview that does not allow for the existence of gay people. My roommate and I were kicking around the idea of a lesbian one that would slash the chick from Dark Destiny (who is a TOTAL lesbian except for how ( ... )

Hey, it wasn't all my doing! I found your "fan" fic on Delicious (before it went pear shaped) as a "gay vampire story." Which means someone read it and didn't have a clue. So I by-passed the summary altogether, had no idea what I was about to read, and it was only when I was several pages into it that I went "Wait... OH GOD, IS THIS BASED ON THAT TERRIBLE VAMPIRE ROMANCE NOVEL SERIES?!?!" Going back and reading the summary was just the icing on the cake ( ... )
