Original: The Pard

How flamebyrd managed to pick the number of the one finished story in my WIP folder I'll never know. This is an old fantasy short story that starts in the middle of the action, is in first person, and is really more poetic than it needs to be. I still like it and always wonder if I'll ever write more in this world.

The Pard, PG-13 for violence )

pard, original, fantasy, knight, finished

I remember you posted this once before. I really liked it then, and I really like it now.

I want MOAR!! I am dying to know what happens. It sounds like the beginning of a great story.

I couldn't remember if I had posted part of it or all of it before. Now it's tagged so I don't have to wonder. I'm glad you like it. It's definitely a favorite of mine.

So does this mean she's some sort of goddess? Anyway, I LIKE. And wow at that beating scene. Just... wow.

Were you planning on continuing this? I think you should. :D

She's a mage, which you can only be at the behest of a god or goddess. And all mages are protected by a knight of their choosing (and there's some debate about whether or not they actual get to choose or it is chosen and they just know). That knight is then named after the heraldic animal that represents their mage. Annice's is the panther, hence Rale is the Pard.

A lot of people were taken aback at the beating scene. It means I did my job well.

I don't know if I'll continue it. I have some vague ideas about where it's going. Then again, I only had vague ideas when I started this. It grew as I wrote.

That, my friend, was a prologue. You said it was the one finished *shakes head* but that is not a finished story. It was very, very good. Loved it, especially the ending, I had a hunch, but I was still surprised!

*pouts* Please continue?

I can see how it would be a prologue. It does seem to give the hint that there is more to this story. I will have to see what comes of it. I am glad you like.

THIS IS SO COOL.

I am very curious about the world, and about the different groups in general. I get that they're kind of like titles for the different groups serving the gods and goddesses, but that just makes me wonder about the groups, the gods, their duties (the knights' not the gods') etc. *________________*
