I'm also curious about old menu/recipe books (like from the late 1800's to early 1900's). I also love an afternoon tea, even though I don't actually like black tea. I like white tea and some green tea, and herbal tea, but not black. The food that goes with the tea on the other hand? YUM. I've been getting Tea Time magazine for over a year now. I really need to try out more of the recipes but it is so hard to find decent heavy cream around here, and so many of the recipes call for it.

I'm the exact opposite when it comes to tea. I love black tea, but tend to overbrew white and green tea because I will make a cup and then forget about it. Oops?
Yeah, there's no real substitute for heavy cream. Which is a shame. Because doing recipes is fun, even when they don't always turn out.
I really want to start trying out some of the old recipes in books I found. Some of them are just so weird sounding that I want to make them just to see if they are edible. Some day...
