Cranky writer is cranky

There is no where comfortable for me to write. I want to write. I've wanted to write for about a month, and I can't. Why? Because there's no where set up for me to write ( Read more... )

...Gmail. Automatically saves drafts every so often, accessible from any computer. I've taken to writing fic in an email to myself, then I just wander off from home and go to work and continue writing it there, then when I'm off work I go home and get on my desktop or my laptop, and when I've got a chapter more or less finalized then I'll copy it to a txt/htm file. And naturally, the most recent incarnation of the file is always then made an attachment included in that email to myself. ;)

Alas , Gmail has the same issue as Google docs once I bump it up to full size: too much stuff around it and not enough of the text box I'm typing into to be useful. I need to read the last few paragraphs I've written sometimes to keep things moving (especially for dialogue).

I use to do some fragments of chapters in Gmail back when I was working and doing NaNoWriMo. I don't feel comfortable doing that at my current job for a variety of reasons. Thank you for the suggestion though.

This may very well work for me. It doesn't have the weird wrap around problem that Google docs has when I have to increase the size to ginormous to see it on this screen. And I can just use my Google login and don't have to sign up for yet another service I won't remember. Thank you!

I'm not to worried about the italics thing. I automatically put the italics tags in my writing when I know I'm going to be converting to html. It's easier to take them out in the end than to stick them in for the conversion. :D

I can totally relate. I cannot write on the laptop. It just feels too wobbly and the keyboard is wrong somehow. So it has to be the desktop, where I compete with the other 3 people in the house.

Tonight I ended up with a pencil and a lone piece of paper. Low tech, but better than nothing.

YES. This exactly. I like my netbook but there's something off about it. It's not even the fact that it's not a full size keyboard. I can adapt to that really quickly. It's that it's just... not what I want/need to write on.

I have got so many notebooks that need to be transcribed it's not even funny. Let's not even talk about the clipboard of loose leaf paper I've got hanging around...

Aw, man, that sucks :(

I can relate, though for me it's mostly other obligations that keep me away from writing. WHAT IS THIS SOCIAL LIFE, DO NOT WANT. And occasionally the thought of writing on my laptop, at the dinner table, is not that appealing. I need a good writing spot, myself...

I do best when I have a set time to write every day. So when I'm at college with classes, massive amounts of writing get done. My job doesn't really allow for a steady schedule, but it's getting better. And once I have the next desk or at least better programs on this computer it will get better as well. I just want it to be better now.

Oh man, I totally understand the sudden social life getting in the way. :)
