There's enough randomness that it seems extremely difficult to tell whether you are winning because you are lucky or because you are playing well relative to the other players. I think it is a bit easier to tell if you are losing because you are playing badly or getting unlucky, but it's still somewhat difficult.
I'd rather always win when I play well and always lose when I play badly; Dominion feels this way to me, while still having a significant amount of randomness. I can figure out what I did wrong in those games much more easily. Of course, this is what attracts fish to poker and makes it possible to win in the first place, but I don't really enjoy beating fish. Whenever I play Dominion on BrettSpielWelt and I see someone make a clearly suboptimal play, my enjoyment of the game goes down. I win, but I don't feel good about it.
