Europe Week 1: Spain-Barcelona/Púbol

All of us were psyched to leave the coast near Peñiscola and head north. Our reservation at the timeshare was through Saturday, but we had already planned to leave on Friday to catch our ship that sailed Friday evening from Barcelona to Rome. Thank you, honey. It's awesome to read all these and get the events right in my head again. Barcelona was my favorite part of Spain and I'm glad the boys and I got to go to Dali's Castle.The guy was so amazingly talented. Also, I keep meaning to tell you how cool it was that you took the girl's on that cable car ride (after the experience in Madrid...:) )and I think it was a good idea to take the ride back. I wish we'd done that in Madrid.

I'm really enjoying reading these posts and looking at the photos. That cathedral is amazing. I wish I could have seen it in person! Maybe someday.

I've been fascinated with La Sagrada Familia ever since it was featured as cover art on an Alan Parsons Project record (Gaudi). Glad you guys got to see it.

Me too. It's stunning. I love knowing Gaudi was so deeply inspired by nature's tiniest detail and used that all over in his work.

The heat and the traditional lack of aircon is the reason for things like the late dinner time - after a siesta. ;) Much of your travelogue confirms my impression of that are of the Spanish coast in particular - touristy, crowded...

You've got some great pics here, and I'm pleased to read about the improving travel/holiday experiences. :)

Oh, and you've got some gorgeous photos there - I particularly like the porthole one (such lovely blue light!), the one of the 3 kids on the turtle and the stained glass window one.
