at the beginning of the month, i posted that that facts/things/habits about yourself meme thing, in which one of my facts was "6. i was born Jewish, but in '89, i wrote down what i thought God was... and in '99, i stumbled across a website that listed out everything i'd written down 10 years earlier. so, after some trial and error, and researching ( Read more... )

I'm glad you posted that. I think what you wrote reflects a passion for life and a deep appreciation for beauty around you which is yet another thing we share :)
'Religon' is such a hard thing to classify. People view the world already affected by past events and future aspirations.
I would not classify myself as having the same religon as you, but that does not mean that our beliefs are not the same.
I have always loved your sidebar quote of "I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it" or as I like to say 'to each their own'

That's really nice.
I like the fact it's so tolerant and peaceful - I don't care what people believe, as long as we can have some sort of mutual acceptance, you know?

Food for thought - There are times when I see cruelty and malice and selfishness and I wonder how anyone could believe that any kind of spirituality existed... but if it didn't, then how could I be thinking this? How could I feel compassion and see beauty?
Is compassion some sort of evolutionary byproduct or something that was deliberately created - by the spirit world, by "God"?

Thanks for linking me to this - it was an interesting read. (And you can just ignore my little musing if you want ;)

you're welcome, and thanks. :D

but it's an interesting point you bring up. reminds me of some of the things i've read about if someone is a "good witch or a bad witch" - and the answer is it depends on the person. if the person is cruel and malicious, that's a bad witch. ;D

and the way i see other religions and beliefs - how can everyone be wrong? so i figure everyone is right. ;)

But see, is cruelty an evolutionary mechanism of self preservation, or something we consciously CHOOSE to do or not to do?
That's my question. :P

Yeah - the way I interpret religion is that it's all just a different interpretation (depending on culture, personality, whatever) of the same force that all humans can feel.
It allows me to be tolerant of everyone's beliefs - even if they think I'm going to rot in hell. ;)
