I hear it's superior to Qwerty and allows for faster typing. That being said, you DO have to retrain yourself to type on it...which is doable, but the transition period will be annoying and probably feel pretty long.
That being said, I've retrained myself to type on foreign Qwerty keyboards surprisingly quickly (for instance the German keyboard where the Z and the Y are switched and the @ is in a different location.) Of course, Dvorak is a much bigger change than that, but you still might be surprised how quickly you get a handle on it. (I say this of course, having never attempted to change myself.)
