Hiatus and Spoilers

Jun 18, 2010 00:10

I*Hiatus. i do not have a "hellatus" - i have summer shows. i have shows year 'round. i am perfectly fine when a show takes a week or two off (even in the fall.) i don't really like the word "hellatus" either. and i'm quite tired of seeing it the day after a show goes off the air for the summer. it's fine with me if you'd like to use it in your ( Read more... )

What is Hiatus ;) just kidding.

Ditto! The only thing I don't quite agree with is #2, but that's just a difference of personal preference. Lost drove me completely insane with their super-long hiatus and then an overdrive of episode after episode, week after week, until the season finally when we were plunged back into a super-long hiatus.

I prefer to draw out the season, savoring each episode, enjoying little, month-long breaks a couple of times during the year. And the 4-month break during the summer is golden for me. Allows me to really concentrate on work during our busiest season, and just as I'm slowing down at the office, Show rewards my hard work with more new episodes. It's a win-win for me.

Not everyone fits so nicely into that rhythm, though. So like I said, personal preference.

I think "hellatus" is kinda clever (it made me chuckle the first time I saw it), but I agree that it is overused and loses it's effect.

I just noticed that I get rambly and long-winded in these comments! Sorry! *blushes*

i guess i'm used to Lost and 24 doing what they did, and Nip/Tuck and Rescue Me on FX have had long hiatues too.

everything is a personal preference - it's why the title of my LJ is "your mileage will vary." because it does. heh.

it was clever the first time, agreed. now, not so much.

and nothing wrong with long rambly comments!

I'm not sure if I could be where I was 5 years ago today - I'm not aware of how I've changed.

I haven't heard the term hellatus before. It made me giggle.
Seriously though is hiatus a big deal. I honestly don't care. If I want to see a show I'll watch when it comes on. If that time is not convenient then I'll DVR, no big. Also it's summer I go out at night and do things, so I;m kind of glad for hiatus because if not I would watch everything recorded. I have 2 summer shows and I always end up watching them on DVD anyway because I miss half of them in the summer. I maen is it really so serious for folks, can't they just do something else while the show is not on. Sheesh. Also the unless it reveals a plot point, like it's a character that died coming back, what is the big deal? I do not understand people who think and ep title is a spoiler. All that tells me is that you are wound way too tight for me to want to deal with you. LOL

i've tried, but i like reading all the fun stuff in my feeds and alerts. i just don't read the comms or the cw forum, or the superntural.tv forum. that's where the crazies are.
