I enjoyed last night, but it was a little weird, all the talk of pure love. I'm curious if that was just a motivator to get him to search for Penny or if it plays into the greater good versus evil thing on the island...

Yeah, he was always Charles' son.. just, something happened and Eloise and Charles didn't stay together... That was confirmed last season.

And Daniel talking about his love at first sight with Charlotte. Obviously a universe where Eloise and Charles didn't break up.. and Eloise let Daniel pursue his music... and OMG Eloise seemed to know WTF was going on!
