How Traci Lords taught me to like ALL of all my tv shows

A long time ago, on a SciFi Channel far away, (well, all right, it was only from 1998 to 2001) there was a show on tv called First Wave. At it’s heart, it was a show about stopping an alien race from invading Earth. The ‘first wave’ was the intelligence gathering stage, to see if the planet was ready for a take-over and its inhabitants enslaved by ( Read more... )

I have known people who watch shows, expecting them to be badly written and acted, and then seem surprised that it IS a bad show.

This applies to everything in life--the people who expect things (situations, other people) to suck get suck...the ones who expect to like something tend to have positive experiences!

It really bugs me when fans are so virulently upset at plotting, or new characters, or perceived (okay, sometimes true) errors in canon. It's one thing to say an episode, etc. wasn't your cup of tea. But continuous, every week hate--why are you watching if it upsets you so much? It's not our,/I> story to write, and unlike a novel with a predetermined plot, Supernatural's chapters are written by a variety of authors and none of them know the ultimate end they are working toward! Give them acknowledgement for just how well they've kept Sam and Dean compelling for 11 years!

Rant over...

so much this!

and i have to say that i LOVE that you call them 'Supernatural's chapters'!! throughout Supernatural's seasons 2-6, i have a ton of " Storytelling" posts over at my trystan830 journal where i refer to them as chapters. my Storytelling posts were an attempt to get the part of the Supernatural fandom who couldn't wrap their brains around what Eric Kripke was doing to understand it a little. however, those who read it already knew it, and those who should have read it never would, let alone understand it.

i'm rewatching Babylon 5 (i'm into the beginning of S3 right now), and i LOVE that it's a five-season long story arc, and there is one plot that starts in the series pilot, and doesn't get resolved until the penultimate episode of the entire series. i think the Supernatural fandom would implode if that happened. (the difference here, though, is that JMS knew his ultimate ending.)

Basically just adding my own two cents...

Well, to be honest, I was never a fan of Jordan character especially as a love interest for Cade. It just somehow ruined my views back in the day. Because I kinda loved that bromance of Cade and Eddie, that brotherhood of theirs.
Yes, I could live with her being as a help in the war against the enemy of human race, but when it came to Cade's love interest it kinda ruined it. Because I was more like into Cade finding his love offscreen (not that I wanted him to be forever a widower). I guess I just didn't like the Jordan character fir some reason.

As for Moonlight, OMG I loved it!
I basically started to watch it because of Alex since I had already seen first season of H50 and loved him in that show.

Supernatural is also one of my favorites and I absolutely adore the trio- Dean, Sam and Cas. I love Cas (even did play him on couple RPGs) and that's just pure bromance to my heart.

Okay...

*rant over* xD

a LOT of people didn't like Jordan... but i think it was also that they didn't like Traci Lords, or the fact that SciFi basically told Brancato to write in a new character to help with the ratings.

i've learned since S3 of FW that i have no input in the show, and i'm just along for the ride. the networks, showrunner, and writers are the ones steering it, and i'm buckled in for the long haul. very rarely do i stop watching a show once i've started. there have been a few (2 come to mind off the top of my head, but that's all)

i LOVE Alex, and i'm still watching H50.

and i'll always be a Dean!girl. =D

I guess. To me she was a stranger to the whole thing.
I'm one of the picky folks when it comes to certain things and tv is one of those things.
I need my weekly entertainment be up to perfection so I can truly enjoy it.
If I had any say in this I'd let them stay the way they were. Like two lone guys against whole alien shit. And the followers like a bunch from the shadows.
Like I don't mind Raven Nation coming to help but wasn't enjoying them being so much front lines.

Maybe I was just jealous xDD

I mean wow. I freaking miss H50. And heard Alex may leave. And few more are leaving the show this season and like literally I just can't take it. Not after NCIS.

Hooray xD I still like Dean more than Sam. But I'm Cas girl here xD

Ok. My list of tv boyfriends is a loong one xD

I like my entertainment to be just that, entertaining. And I am easily entertained, so that may be why I'm not all that picky.

Jealousy is always a possibility XD

I have a list of my TV boyfriends in an LJ post. Once I'm at a computer that will let me post links, I will link it here for you.

Okay Vampire Diaries wasn't on my tv much abd book reading didn't go well either.
The guy from Lost was one of my faves in that show.
The guy from Firefly (i guess) well I saw only the one movie but liked him to want to watch the show.

Others dunno much or anything.
