As I've mentioned before, I frequent a diner next door to me. I have strong ties to this diner since it has been a part of this community since the 30's and the former long-time owner, Harold, owned my house. I did the paperwork putting a bid on my house there. I'd have made the point that the lettering was Hebrew; and what it said. I'd have then followed it up with, "But why do my clothes matter to you in the least?"

Yes...I understand they are not "opposite languages" and are in fact very similar. Hell, "peace" in Arabic and Hebrew are written almost the same. But in the Gaza Strip it would be kinda appropriate :-)

I didn't complain because her views are not the views of the diner. She's a nice enough gal but...common.

I'd have been sorely tempted to play mind games, though, and answer her question "because it says 'Peace'", and just let the gears strip against the assumptions.
