...I have a feeling Alfons isn't from the same time as me. He was mentioning theories by people I've never even heard of, like Haushaufer...

It's gonna start getting pretty cramped in the apartment soon, seeing as we've got Alfons staying with us now too. We should probably start considering moving to a house sometime ( Read more... )

Three bedrooms, a living room, and a bathroom is cramp? My, how demanding are we?

I don't think it's that demanding. We're four people living together and every single one of us has either books, or mechanical stuff floating around the apartment right now. That doesn't leave a lot of space.

Hah. Packrats on a derelict; classic situation.

I understand that feeling about a cramped apartment. Four people arrived from my world this month, it's a good thing we went looking for a house when the first one arrived, and moved into the largest one available.

As far as your second question, I'm not exactly a scientist, but I can explain part of the science of my world. There were really two types in a way, what the Empire practiced and what the rest of the world did.

The Empire made use of creatures of magic called espers to formulate technology that was powered by magic. Due to this, the Empire's capital, Vector, was the most advanced city there was. Other places preferred to make use of technology that involved steam power. One from my world named Edgar may be able to give more details since he did have a most amazing form of defense for his kingdom.

Good idea. When there's a lot of people in a small space it's easy to get sick of each other.

Steam power huh? That one I actually know a little bit about myself, well, how it worked where I'm from anyway.

Thanks a lot. I'll keep an eye out for Edgar, that esper stuff sounds interesting.

And five people in one apartment wouldn't have worked. My world seemed to be a popular place to grab people from this time around. Thankfully they were all friends and not enemies.

Oh, so you had that too? I personally preferred that technology over magitek. True, the Empire did far more with magitek, but the draining of living creatures for power was far too cruel. It's no wonder the espers hated most humans.

And do make sure to ask Edgar about Figaro Castle. Its defense was that it would tunnel into the sand of the desert, and that could even be used to cross a mountain range that was nearby. He can tell the best how that works.

That should be a relief at least. In a place like this we shouldn't have to deal with enemies.

I think taking a life, even for scientific advancement is something I could never do. I see why you'd prefer steam power.

A tunneling castle? The technology used to create something like that must be really complex. Do you know if it was able to go anywhere or did it have a limit on how far it could move?

What? Of course not. We need a bigger place anyway.

Sure, if you're living there too it's only fair you have a say in it.

A variety of matters, especially here. However if you were looking for the fields I specialize in, those would be biology and chemistry.

Biology and chemistry are pretty common fields, since every world has living things and chemicals of some kind. Do you know anything unique to your world?

I'd been looking into the matters of light and darkness as related to the human heart shortly before coming here, if that would do?

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty unique.

What'd you learn about it?

I'm definitely no scientist, but my Uncle Chuck was studying how to keep people kickin' even when they're old or mondo sick.

He made this machine called the roboticizer, but things got ugly. Turns out it took away their free will.
