Could I trouble someone to bring me some cough medicine? I seem to have come down with a bit of a cold, and it's snowing right now, so... I'd rather not have to walk to the pharmacy in this sort of weather.

I suppose this will teach me not to play a game of Scavenger Hunt with our local phantom thief when it's below freezing outside.

I hope Senpai ( Read more... )

I could bring something by, if you don't mind herbal remedies.

Actually, my family has always been open to the idea of homeopathic remedies. I suppose living in the countryside makes one used to such things.

It would, yes. You're not allergic to aspirin or anything similar to that, are you?

No, not at all. I can only assume that this remedy contains willow bark, yes?

Don't let Hattori see this, he'll recommend booze.

...I fail to see how alcohol would aid in my recovery? In fact, it would only serve to bring my body temperature down.

Baigar, he claims it's a Chinese cold remedy. Edogawa-kun knows more about it than I do. Personal experience.

Chinese medicines aren't really my forte...

And Conan-kun is far too young to be drinking alcohol.

That does seem like a bad idea... Though I suppose he should have put his notes out in warmer weather. It's only polite.

I could bring something?

I've never been one to handle cold weather very well in the first place, and Hokkaido sees rather harsh winters compared to the rest of Japan.

Thank you, but Shuichi-san is bringing me some medicine. Although some soup would be nice, if you're still willing.

Then you'll have to remember to bundle up more before going searching through the town.

I believe I can manage that.

I'm seriously thinking about just... staying inside and hibernating until the thaw. Of course, it's a silly notion...

Ah, thank you. I really appreciate it. And, um... if I could trouble you for one more thing? Would you mind cleaning Fluffy's cage?

I'd offer, but I can't worldhop myself.

Though I could make sure either Hakuba-san or Aoko-chan know you're sick, maybe? They could bring some.

Why were you having a scavenger hunt?

I'm certain Ai-kun will inform her cousin of my condition, but thank you anyway.

Well, um... it's complicated. A man in black sunglasses gave Senpai this card addressed from a so-called "phantom thief" and shortly after there was a break in at the Shirogane estate. Several items were taken, though nothing of particular value. It seems that he's challenging me with riddles and hiding the "seven tools of the detective" that I crafted long ago as a child. Just now, I recovered a digital watch that I had modified with a backlight strong enough to blind the enemy. Before that, it was a detective's badge that I made.

...that sounds really weird.

Then again, Phantom Thieves have always seemed weird.

Hm. They certainly are a special breed of criminal, that much is certain. I have a feeling I know who this phantom thief might be, though I am clueless as to his motive. Why steal useless trinkets? They have no intrinsic value, and to be quite honest, I thought I had lost all those childish toys long ago...

Shirogane-san...Why would you...

Soup. Honey. Rest.

In that order, please.

It's... part of an ongoing case that I took up a few months ago... It's become important to me.

Erm, yes... I'll be getting plenty of rest, I assure you.

Why do the smart ones never take care of their bodies?

Ah! Well that's slightly difference. Just don't let your health drop because of it.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off that harsh. Get well soon.

I won't. I'll wait until I get over this cold before working on anymore cases, I promise.

I'm used to it. Kanji can be pretty harsh when I get myself into trouble. So, I know when I deserve to be scolded.
