Despite her longing to finish her examination on the newest skeleton to arrive at her autopsy table from Limbo today, Brennan had left the Jeffersonian punctually -- if not after Cam had assured her that the bones would not be going anywhere ( Read more... )

Traveling never used to make Angela flustered. In fact, she used to be a pro, even in the worst conditions. Riding a donkey down the side of the mountain in Argentina would do that to you, really. But she was flustered. It had been the first time she had traveled anywhere out of New York since finding out she was pregnant. And Danny didn't exactly help her nerves. He was nervous about her traveling alone, understandably, fussing over her like a good husband would, to make sure she had everything she needed.

But by the time she arrived in D.C., she was feeling a lot better. It was like coming home. Angela was excited to see everyone, especially Brennan. And she was eager to see the state of things between her and Booth. Because honestly, those two needed to be together and ravishing each other, stat. Even with the engorged belly, Brennan was able to spot her best friend within an instant. She dropped the paper tea cup into a passing trash receptacle as she closed the distance between her, Angela, and the crowd.

Seemingly out of the busy rush of the station, she stopped a few inches in front of Angela. Ultimately, she settled on a smile before reaching for the overnight bag.

"I should carry that. Danny gave me strict instructions not to let you overexert yourself."

Angela spotted her best friend just as she headed towards her. Picking up pace, she didn't stop even though Brennan did. "Come here." And with a little bit of laughter, she pulled Brennan into a tight, friendly hug. "Don't think that you could just not hug me."

Laughing again, she pulled back to look at her friend, her smile huge. "How are you, sweetie?"

"I didn't want to endanger the fetus," Brennan insisted, returning the hug carefully. "I know that the amount of pressure applied by a tight hug is not enough to cause harm, but..."

She trailed off and shrugged. Another uncomfortable pause passed before she helped herself to Angela's bag. "I am doing well. Was your train ride down here comfortable?"
