I was just checking up on ONTD and found a post about the AWESOME Sven Kramer :)

Apparently a lot of the (non-Dutch) ONTDers think it was rude of him to say that and that he's a douchebag because of it. Now, that NBC part was on tv the night it was shot and to be honest, I think the Dutch reporters actually thought it was funny and so did my ( Read more... )

I saw the clip the morning after he had won, on the tv. And OMG, how stupid is that woman?
I loveeeee Sven's reaction <3!
Other people might think he's a douche, I think he just had the guts to just say it. Other country's might just do what the woman asked. He didn't. And I liked that. Honest as a dutchman is.
Aren't dutch people just cool :P

I know, and loads of people on ONTD and youtube kept going on and on about how it normal for het to ask things like that so that, if someone'd go into the archieve years from now, it'd be obvious who Sven is, but she could have said his name in the intro herself. I've seen loads of live-interviews with Shani Davis and Hedrick and all the dutch interviewers introduce the skaters themselves, I really don't get why everyone else seems to be incapable of doing that and showing a bit of respect. I totally get why Davis hates the American journalists but loves the dutch ones :p

And we're totally cool :p And we're way too honest, well except for our own Harry Potter that is. I for one still need to learn how to turn on the filter between my brain and mouth.

I do think we are far more straight forward than Americans and tend to say what we think, regardless of who is asking the questions.

Maybe it's part of our genes (or basic upbringing) but it seems that they are a lot of Dutchies with a malfunctioning filter between their brains and mouths. I kinda like it that way
