So, question. Popslash fandom isn't what it used to be in terms of popularity, right? I've still got tons and tons of boyband stories living in my head that need to be committed to paper (or at least a Word doc). I'm not hoping to win a popularity contest or anything, but everyone likes recognition that what you've worked on is good. So, if you ( Read more... )

As long as I'm around, I'll always read what you write.

I've actually been thinking about running a pop WIP challenge which would encourage people to finish their epic AUs (or whatevers). Do you think that's something you'd be interested in?

And CONGRATS!! \o/

It's something I'm DEFINITELY interested in, but a) I have too many WIPS and b) I'm not so sure about deadlines? My energy levels aren't what they used to be and I find myself needing more and more time to recharge, so I hold my down time in high regard now. Which means not much writing. But if you held a challenge I want to free my musicalAU!Letterboys from the prison of my head!

Yeah, the deadlines are something I'll have to think about a bit. But I do think it would be a challenge worth running!

I feel like there is still a pretty big audience for popslash (or just fiction in general) it's just that not many people write it as much anymore. I will still read any fiction if the subject matter (or boy!) interests me.

Also, CONGRATULATIONS BB!

Write because it makes you happy. Write because if you get it out of your head other fun things can grow up there. write because there's always somebody who will want to read it.

you passed!! JM, that's GREAT!!! It has been quite the week for you!! :hugs:

if you were I, writing in a fandom with diminished interest would you continue working on your stories even though very little people would read them?

Yes. One of the fandoms I write in (Veritas - see icon) has about 12 active people in it. I don't do it so it will get a lot of gushing feedback. I do it because I want to tell the story.

Good answer! For me at least my own down time has become so precious to me, that my energy levels just cannot cope with a few hours spent angsting over a story. But that may change!

One of the stories I'm working on right now is ~10k words and I've been pecking away at it with a friend for the last ~2 years. It only has a bit of editing left to it and then I hope to post it shortly. In Veritas. Where it probably will only be read by a handful of people, but it's ok because I've enjoyed writing it and working on it with my writing partner. ;-)
