It was morning.

The sunlight fell in pools on the stone floor, glinting on the silver brushes on Zelda's dressing table, filling the room with warmth.

Zelda, however, was nowhere to be found. In her stead there lay a small handwritten note beside her sleeping fiancé, along with a dark purple orchid.

Link wakes up, slightly disappointed that Zelda wasn't there with him in the morning, as they wouldn't be able to wake up together in the same bed for another week.

He sits up, taking the note and orchid in hand. He reads the note quickly, sighing slightly. He smells the flower for a moment before placing it back down on the bed and getting up to get dressed.

After he's ready, he heads down to the throne room to meet with the council.

Here goes nothing.

A long table sits off to the left. It wasn't regularly there, as it was only used during council sessions. Several men were already talking animatedly, despite the early hour, and a few had even gotten out of their chairs trying to get their point across.

Two chairs sat empty, one on either end of the table.

One man noticed Link's presence and stood up, indicating that the others should do the same. After a few moments, the table quieted and the elder of the group indicated that Link should take one of the empty chairs.

"Good morning, my Lord. We are glad that you had a moment to spare to speak with us."

The speaker was the same man that had presided over Link's knighting. A tall, balding man with a booming voice and a pale complexion that showed how little he ventured out into the sun, preferring instead to pour over his books and papers in his study.

He nodded his head respectfully, carefully inspecting the younger man before him as he did so.

Link was never comfortable with formality, but he's been around the castle long enough to carry himself well enough around the council.

He nods respectfully back to the older man, before taking the empty seat closest to him.

"If the council has need to speak with me, then it must be important enough to take time out of my schedule for."

Well, it's not entirely true, since he didn't have much to do today, but he knows most of the council members like having their egos stroked every now and then.

The men sit after Link takes his seat.

"Yes...well, her highness has informed us that you will be getting married this week, is that correct?" the first man asks, still peering over at him rather oddly, as if still trying to decide something.
