I tried playing Sid Meyer's Alpha Centauri Demo when it first came out, but the interface/visual style made no sense to me.

You should download the game that I a link for in this post and try it out. It'll probably take another day or two to round up people so try it out and if you hate it then you don't need to sign up.

Thanks for the tips but I'm not an expert player. This is mainly just a game for people I'm friends with to play.

Heh, I would totally jump in on this if I still had any skills in that game.
I must've played for hours and hours and hours back in the day. The Gaians rocked..

And of course, there's WoW... which keeps me from functioning as a passable human being.

Hah, I don't have any skills either. Most of the people playing have little experience, or at least they haven't played in a long while. If you're interested but worried that you aren't any good, I would recommend you sign up. There will be few people with "da skillz" around here.

There's no room at this current time, but I'm having a problem with one of the players, he hasn't taken his (first) turn in four days and I can't get ahold of him. If he doesn't take his turn by tonight maybe I can just boot him. I'll let you know.
