...but first a few words about the gig last night in the cavernous space that is the main hall at Ally Pally - seeing as Philrar and albiongirl asked so nicely.

From speaking to Katie Documentary, I think that "chav" comment basically meant:

"We ignored all the other support acts, then when Peeeeeeeete came on we shoved our way to the front like a load of antisocial tossers, and some people who didn't look as cool as we did got pissed off with us and asked us to behave ourselves."

Can't help you with the lighter business. I have only really seen people I know do it in an "ironic" fashion.

Yes, I thought that might be the origin of the "chav" comment. I had to laugh at "Felt like me and my friends were the only people there that knew him" in the same post. Oh, stop it, you're killing me!

What did Katie Documentary make of the rest of it then?

Funnily enough, a lot of the people around Katie genuinely didn't seem to know who he was. When Katie explained he used to be in the Libertines, they responded, "Never heard of them." Fair enough, I guess. A lot of Libs fans have never heard of the Mitchell Brothers.

She found the rap battles quite entertaining, said that Mr D seemed to be singing slower than usual, and watched the Streets from a bit further back but enjoyed them.

First time she's ever seen Peter play live. An odd atmosphere to experience that in, I imagine. Never been to Ally Pally for a gig myself, but almost everyone who has tells me it's not a great venue for gigs.

i have, in fact, waved my lighter around. unfortunately, i was only doing it for the ironic effect, so i have no insight as to why people do it in earnest. it did make my hand very hot.

this is kate (the one that hangs out with brenda), by the way. i think i had threatened to add you in the past, but now i think i actually will, if that's alright.

I have finally found your livejournal! I didnt relise thewas an underscore atthe end.
I want to know how to do the *link to a large bit of writing* and the *link to another persons livejournal* thing. Everyone seems to be very god at it, but I *was* spamming most of my friends friends lists because of writing such long messages where there seems to be quitea neat way around that. Would you care to teach me the ways?
Anyway, Im not writing as much on mine anymore, but it would be good for the occasional tidbit and so on.
