I have read one and only one spoiler for Saturday, and bearing this in mind (pun accidental) I think you may be onto something here.

Is it Saturday yet??? ^^

the Canadians are stealing them and driving them round in lorries.

Wrong! The bees are stealing lorries and going joy-riding. The 'driver' is simply too scared to tell the truth. Which is fair enough, under the circumstances.

Fair enough, that does make more sense. And fits in with the Who explanation; presumably they're driving the lorries to their bee spaceships.

I like the theory, but I suspect that making Donna immortal and insane would be a bit too grim for Saturday evening telly.

Surprise! She's the Master.

True enough, but that's a recurring character, and I fear that turning the doctor's companion mad would be pretty traumatic to the kiddies.

Interesting theory, although I agree with Liz that it's probably a bit too dark for Saturday-evening family viewing. I would rather like it if it was true, though (for values of "like" that include "crying buckets", obv).

Would she then end up on the island from "Adrift" with Jack looking after her?

One of the plans for the aborted season 27 of original Who was for Sylvester McCoy to go insane and regenerate purely due to mental incapacity, though I don't know if that idea ever propagated as far as anyone who would decree it as too dark for Saturday tea time (or whenever it was going out by then).
