In book 5, he is competing with Alcide's dad to lead the Shreveport were pack. He cheats in the big leader competition they have for it. He's pretty nasty.

Ah, thanks! I remember now, that was a really good scene. It's an interesting twist if Terry's army buddy turns out to be a were.

Yeah I wouldn't mind if they somehow compressed the Alcide/Jackson/Patrick/Quinn storylines a bit -- using less characters but giving a similar taste in our mouths, as it were. My two favorite things from the whole pack competition storyline were the brutality and scary nature of the competition (and the post-win mating ritual)... and QUINN LICKING SOOKIE'S LEG. Yeowch! ;-) Surely Ball wouldn't want to miss those opportunities?
