LMFAO - "that lion from Narnia" indeed. Ooh, Jason Stackhouse, I love you so.

Interesting that he's being watched by what looks like a real (black) panther when down South a panther is actually a cougar/mountain lion/wild cat elsewhere. *shifty look*

Yeah, I remember panther parts being described as somewhat beige and tufty in the books. Perhaps Alan Ball decided they weren't smexy enough?

I remember reading that and going "erm, wut" and then looked up 'panther' and found out that what people down South call "panthers" are what we'd call a mountain lion or cougar here. Plus I was totally confused by the concept of black panthers roaming the wilds of Louisiana since I was under the impression they were only in South America. LOL

However, there are black cougars which have been seen in that part of the country, so I guess it's not completely out of the frame of reference. I do suspect that Alan Ball thought the black cats were sexier or more visually striking. (Or maybe they're just easier to train?)

Well and to be honest, I mean they are shifters. Tigers are also not native to the Southern US ;) So I think the show can get away with it. I wish we'd seen batgirl in season 2, though. Or in future seasons. That would be awesome.
