HBO's official True Blood twitter just linked to this article in the New Orleans Times Picayune, which discusses the show and has some interview bites from Stephen Moyer.

Of particular interest though are these two tidbits of info: the show now has a cumulative audience of about 11 MILLION PEOPLE, wow...and the cast has apparently signed 7-year ( Read more... )

I saw the notice of the 7 year contract but it doesn't really say they signed them, just that one normally does in TV.

I read this as Moyer saying that since he's only worked in UK TV till he took the Compton part, he'd never had to sign a 7-year deal before. But that he did indeed sign it for this show.

I agree it's a bit vague...but one should assume that if one of the leads had to sign a 7-year deal, then all the main characters have likely done the same.

All good, from where I sit! Let's pray for season 7. ;-)

Oh good lord, I can sure hope we'll get to season 7. I'm just bummed they're saying season 3 will start next summer.

Yeah, well, both seasons have started in the summer, so its no big news.

What can I tell ya -- as a Sopranos fan from back in the day, not to mention a Battlestar fan, a one year wait seems like a treat. Sigh.

They've got to be factoring in TiVo and online viewings for that 11 million people thing, right? I mean, I realize a lot of people watch it, but that's like a network television rating right there. And maybe this is a naive statement, but at least from where I live, not many people have HBO.

You mentioned TiVO, but True Blood is also available on HBO on Demand, so I assume that includes the folks who watch it that way as well. (Of course, I think you have to have HBO in the first place to have that.)

Also, a regular network show airs once before re-run season and True Blood airs twice. Granted they're only two hours apart, but still ...

The more the merrier, I say! I'd love for this show to continue for a few more years.
