BookBinding!Fail!!!

I was at the point where I was putting the cloth on the spine only to find out that cloth does not work very well at all for a rounded spine with cords.  I ended up with a lumpy mess.  I'm going to find/buy a suitable piece of leather but in the meantime I'm going to put this particular project away and live to fight another day.  I strongly ( Read more... )

OH NOES! Can you rescue any part of it that wasn't done yet?

This woman is so totally sweet and enthusiastic! I adore people who are passionate about books. And she's so fast!

No, the original book block is a bit of a wash. I knew that would be a possibility going into the project so I'm disappointed but not really surprised. I'm already gluing the spine of a new book block and I'm going to work on the cover today. Once more, wish me luck. :)

I just had to chime in with you about her enthusiasm. It's so great to see someone happy to create something that might contain their own art or someone elses. And yes, she is fast! I love that she's not too precious about it - something I can get stuck on. She mentions how a book said she should use this or that kind of material but hey, this works just as well and she gets it done. She truly rocks.

Oh, I definitely plan on trying again. It's like the one that got away. Always on my mind. ::grin:: I was making good progress and I think if I had used leather instead of bookcloth it would have been OK. I'm already gluing up the spine of a new bookblock and so maybe tomorrow I'll have some kind of end product to wave around. Here I go ...
