Or, rather, 10-point-4, the current unemployment rate in my home county, announced with due solemnity on today's news. I'd figured we'd be there or thereabouts by summer, but summer's still a long way off . . . and this is one of those benighted boroughs that actually voted for McCain. Oh, ouch! Even we aren't that badly off, and we just got another round of cuts from the big mining company this week.

No lay-offs et at my place of work, though they've cut back the hours of some of the hourly-paid workers ... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my salary isn't seen as a surplus expense!
