...

I don't even have the words.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to have to find. He LOOKS like he was a sweet guy. This breaks my heart.

he was a very sweet guy, such a cool dude. Matt got him from some lady in California who was going to send him for meat cuz she couldn't afford him and so our friend who was down there picked him up and trailered him up here. We were just talking last week, about how happy we were that he wintered as good as he did since it was such a bad and cold one and how good he'd look once he had a bit more weight (he did drop with the cold but not as bad as we anticipated) and shed out :( He was such a suck and would always come up and greet us. What a crazy thing!

OMG, poor sweet horse!! :( :( :( What a terrible injury. It looks fairly fresh so it's just a relief he wasn't standing there like that long. :( :( Still, so sad. Jeez, you just never know when something like that is going to happen, they are so fragile. :(

Ya it must have just happened when Matt found him. Thankfully it wasn't during the night when we wouldn't have saw it until morning check. I couldn't imagine him suffering with that injury that long. As it was he started to go into shock before the vet even made it out. And any time I even backed away) from him (to check where Matt or anyone to help was) he'd try and follow and gave me a look as if to say "mom I hurt, please don't go"

Your right, total wake up as to how fragile they really are. Well that and the gophers are going down....... HARD!!!

ya, I am so thankful that it happened when it did and not during the night. Matt must have saw him right after it happened. As it was it took the vet close to 20 minutes to get out there and he was already going into shock and getting twitchy (his chest) and breaking into a sweat. So sad, looked so painful!
