Fic: "Back to Earth" (4/8)

Title: Back to Earth
Pairings: Helo/Gaeta, Helo/Sharon. Can be read with the occasional Gaeta/Baltar undertones.
Genre: It's a gen story overall but with some slash and het b-plot. So it's kind of a gen hybrid.
Rating: PG-13 for some sex, PTSD, bad language in the face of danger and, ya know, people killing robots.

Hot Dog as CAG? This really is a B-Team adventure!

You did a great job of portraying Sharon's dislike of the other clone-like Eights and her determination to be an individual. This was a great line by Caprica - "It’s why we love,” Caprica continued with conviction. “So our loved ones can make us who we are.” That seemed very in character for her as did Sharon's rejection of her philosophy.

In this part I also loved Cottle standing up for Gaeta (someones got to!) and Helo's dawning realisation that Felix has never really had any help or support from anyone in the fleet. So sad.

Hot Dog as CAG had to be done! I'm growing very fond of Hot Dog. Actually I'm just writing another Hot Dog/Gaeta fic.

Thanks! I'm glad because I'm getting a feeling Sharon and I will never be friends (in my fic anyway, I love her on the show). There's going to be a lot of Sharon later on. But, first some slash.

I don't write much, but I have trouble writing Sharon myself, at least when she's not in the role of mother or lover. The soldier part of her and the angry part of her are things I can't get across well.

Typical. I'm trying for creepy with those Eights, and you? Laugh. :D Also, I think Hot Dog is much cooler than Starbuck but that's probably just me. No problem with Starbuck of course, who rules, but Hot Dog... I just have a soft spot for Hot Dog. :)

Helo isn't used to feeling this guilty because frankly, he's too nice a guy to ever have screwed up like that before. "Crashing" is most definitely a good word to describe at least one scene in the next chapter. However, I'm pretty sure you didn't mean it like that. :D

Glad that you liked that line, btw. It was a last minute addition I'm very fond of. Thanks for the great long review!

First of all, you are the QUEEN of writing Hot Dog. I adore your Hot Dog, and just want to hug him and ruffle HIS hair. He's so cute, in a Hot Dog sort of way.

Second, and you knew this was coming, LOVE Zarek. The way he compliments Helo is so dead on and so... so... Zarek. And the whole thing with Helo hating to deal with him... I can totally see that. I love it.

Also very much in love with Cottle here. I think we can all agree that Cottle needs to join the hair-ruffling club at some point. It seems to be a fandom convention (at least among the Gaetagirls here) that Cottle has a soft spot for Felix, and I'm so glad you put that in.

You wrote the girls very well, too. Sharon's anger and discomfort are palpable, and it really reads like her.

Cool, that makes me proud. :) I'm glad you like Hot Dog. I'm actually working on a Hot Dog/Gaeta fic again, with a Hot Dog who's very similar to this one. I'm very fond of him. And I'm glad you like Zarek! You're the Zarek expert, after all. ;)

I think there's no way around Cottle having a soft spot for Felix after ep4.8. He'd be very conscious of what it means to lose a leg, and he's the only person who knows that Felix didn't get any visitors. Additionally, he probably got to see Felix after Adama knocked him out, and possibly after "Collaborators", too. He sees it all. It's really sad.

I can't promise to write fast (I have oral exams coming up now) but the next chapter is almost done. :)
