This was a great read. The feeling I'm left with is bittersweet for reasons we all know.

“It’s not that it means anything by now...” he tried to explain but she interrupted him.

“Yes, it does.” Giving him a long look, she frowned. “You know it does.”

This part grabbed my heart. Oh, Dee. If only you were around to say things like this before it was too late.

Thank you so much for finishing this! It makes a refreshing change to see Felix recieve the friendship, happiness and acknowledgement that he barely even glimpsed at in the canon story. This is a great testiment to the person Felix was just before he broke - a person who was wounded, exhausted and needful, but still so selflessly committed to the mission at hand.

Thank you! It's great that you get all that out of the story. It was my plan to write fic were Gaeta gets laid, promoted and recognized. Somebody had to do it.

I found this story yesterday and quite enjoyed it. Kudos for finishing it! Your characterizations of all of the "b-team" are excellent. Helo, in particular, was spot on throughout. Normally I'm just a little squicked out by slash, but this was tastefully done and quite believable. The battle sequence in the previous chapter was well done, particularly the portrayal of Sam in the data stream. This last chap tied everything together very nicely.

Thanks for your lovely comment.

You're squicked by slash! That's sad, considering Hoshi/Gaeta. :) I'm glad you liked this anyway. I have a hard time writing sex every time since I don't do it a lot.

I don't mind when it's canon, like in Gaeta's case. In general, I'm not squicked by the concept . . . just the details. Then again, even hard het usually isn't my cup of tea.

Ah, I see. We'll get along in that regard I think. :) I'm not squicked by much but I usually read and write stories for the characters and the plot, not the sex.

Oh, this whole series was just wonderful. While I love BSG, I enjoyed this even more. And while I wouldn't go so far to say Gaeta got happiness, he got some recovery, which was more than he was ever allowed in canon.

and can I print the first section of this part out and show it to canon!Bill? I think he needs to read it!

Wonderful, wonderful story, and one of my new favorites!

He got laid and promoted. That was all I ever wanted to achieve in this fic. :) (and I'm glad I wrote Bill's scene before the mutiny took place in canon because I'd be too annoyed with him to write him like that now, I think)

Thanks so much for the nice compliment. You're making me proud.

I very much like the way you end it - and oh, that last conversation between Felix and Dee - sigh. If only things had turned out differently in canon, eh?

But a lovely glimpse into what could have happened - and how the Galactica crew rose to the challenge... Thanks for the ride.

You're very welcome! It was fun to write. I have a weakness for B-Team characters. They could be quite as cool as the lead characters, if they were only given a chance. Even Hot Dog and Figurski. ;)
