When you are trying to logic someone out of a bad mood you should first make sure that there isn't a legitimate reason for the poor mood. If there is then you can actually make things worse by pointing out the ways that things really ARE as bad as they thought.

Situational depression and clinical depression are two, very different things. The problem is that too many people treat you as if you have the latter when you really have the former and too many people think they have the former when they really have the latter.

And, yes, I know your funk is entirely situational.
