I started my new workout plan last night. I decided that there are several interesting things in the book that I agreed with, and one of them is that you should never do exactly 100% the same workout twice. Every single time you go in you should set a new high in reps or weight on an old workout or you should try a new move that you haven't done ( Read more... )

If you aren't feeling the swiss ball crunch then you might not be doing it quite right. Shay said the same thing until I had her change her position some and stop going all the way down on the return. You want to keep the abs tight through the whole set so you don't when going down stop short of resting your back on the ball. Grab a 25 pound plate while you're at it. Shay and I both use a plate on our sets but I can definitely feel it even without the weight. It's really easy to "cheat" just about any form of crunch and not feel them at all.
That sucks that you had to wait on squat rack. No one uses the squat racks at the UT gym, and I think the ones at 24 hour fitness went unused as well. I will see people using the hack squat machine (at least I think that's what it's called) where the bar-hook is on a track but I rarely see people doing proper squats.

oops, that would be Smith squat rack, not hack squats. hack squats are a variaton on the squat where you hold a barbell at arms lengh behind your back (which seems more like a deadlift varient than a squat varient)
