Cross-country pet transport?

There is a dog in Indiana that I want here in Boston with me.  His name is Pepper, he is a chihuahua, and he fits in a #100 carrier.  If you are travelling cross-country, want extra gas money, and have room in your car for such a wee beastie, do get in touch. Likewise, if you know of any good ways to ship pets--maybe a rescue organization?

I'd check with the northeast animal shelter or forever home rescue (where we got moppet) to see if they have suggestions.

There is a yahoo group called pettravel that arranges people to drive legs to transport animals from rescues to new forever homes. I am not sure if an individual can request this or not, but it's worth a look if the dog is a rescue. Good luck!

Not sure if you know miss_chance, or that she would want to/be able to transport a dog (for all I know she's allergic or can't stand them), but she's in Wyoming right now and at the end of the month will be driving back to Somerville... maybe something can be worked out?

I am not familiar with this person. Is she the same as alicechance on LJ? We'd be willing to pay for gas, or make some other sort of mutally beneficial arrangement.

It is not the same person. If you would like, I can send her a message, to see if she would be open to it or not.
