(100 Things: The Mentalist) 003: Lisbon/Red John

Feb 01, 2013 13:59

I said I was going to continue my 100 Things bloggings, and I thought it was about time I resurrected it. I didn't get very far, at all, with the Mentalist one, but that also gives me a lot of flexibility about where to go next.

oh, yes, the concent is interesting, and it's one I like too. BUT I've never been able to write a long fic about it...
(and I even wrote a fic about jane being red john and seducing lisbon....)

You may end up being able to in the end. I never thought I'd be able to write crossovers, and now I've written several! :)

(icon with brrenda eating cookies because inspiration is like cookies) I could kind of turn one of the two scenarios of my minific about lisbon/rj into a long fic...

4. Neither knows who the other is.

Nah... this isn't likely to happen at all. Unless they meet during childhood. Wait, I've already written this version too. *cheesy grin*

Hahahaha...that made me laugh.

I think my favourite situation is Lisbon not knowing Red John is Red John, but of course he knows who she is. Then him using it as a device to get back at Jane, or Lisbon herself. Great blog!

It's funny 'cause it's true.

And yeah, I agree to be honest. It's the most realistic to happen too, which is probably why I like it the most.

This ship isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I find it slighly intriguing nonetheless.
I've written a couple of ficlets about it myself (I nearly fainted with surprise when I saw that you listed one of them in your post), and I have to say that it works somehow. In my mind it's either Lisbon offering herself as a gift to Red John in order to catch him, or Red John seducing an unaware Lisbon because he's geniunely fascinated with her.
What I really hate is the whole Jane-as-John thing - not to mention the fact that it seems completely unlikely to me...

I think there's nothing wrong with intrigue - or with exploring it as a consequence. It makes you a better writer to think about the alternatives, even the ones you loathe.

I think Jane-as-John was one of those things which felt more possible in the earlier seasons. Now, I just can't see it happening at all.

From what I've heard about the last aired episodes, there's no way that Jane can be Red John at all. (I don't know if these comments must stay spoiler-free for people who haven't watched season 5 yet, so I'm not going into details here.)

I'm not sure I understand this whole "100 things" thing... is it up to the blogger to choose each of the 100 things they want to talk about, or there is a list somewhere?

Yep, you're right. It's excluded a lot of the theories people come up with. I'd agree with the saying that it's impossible now (unless he's had a serious case of amnesia!)

Basically, it was a meme that went around a long while ago. You pick a subject and write 100 blog posts about it. It can be literally any subject - 100 recipes, 100 ships, 100 books, 100 quotes, anything. I'm doing two - The Mentalist and 100 Songs. :)

Ah, my pretty guilty pleasure ship. ;) Love all the endless possibilities and different aspects to explore!

If this were facebook, I'd like this comment. If it were twitter, I'd favourite or retweet it. As this is LJ, I'll just say I agree <3

I agree with this post a million times. Haha. Honestly though, I do really enjoy this ship. I like the mystery and as you said, nobody knows much about him at all! We can pretty much write him anyway that we want; which is obviously fine by me! *big grin*

I do wish more fics were written about these two though! (and Follow The Yellow Brick Road is still amazing!)

Haha they really are a beautiful pairing. *sniff*

It's funny, I often get told how 'good' my Lisbon/RJ fics are and how intriguing the pairing is... but nobody else beyond us ever thinks to write any. Boo.

Boo is right! (They really are good fics!)

I wonder if we could just bribe people to go write them. ;) You know, fic trading. I'll write you this fic, if you write me that fic. ;D

Good idea, except I owe like fifty billion fics right now and can't write them because of Ricochet D:

Speaking of owed fics, you owe me a prompt for your Christmas fic :D
