So I ended up having the conversation with Lane's Dad for unimportant reasons. Turns out the situation at the ballpark was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Oh, poor Opie! I know he doesn't have a malicious bone in his body. Mischievous, yes! Malicious, no. I'm glad that you had the talk with Lane's dad. And I can see only good things coming from this. I bet that Opie can mend this fence and that he and Lane will be closer for it.

Do keep us posted. And give Opie a hug from his Aunt Millie!

Sounds like Opie may need to learn his own strength. It's a hard and painful lesson and I hope all parties come out of this friends and happy.

This has been an ongoing discussion with him, that he has to be less physical than other kids, even when they are going to try to be MORE physical with him because of his size. It's a fine line to walk between "keep your hands to yourself" and "don't be a doormat," especially at a really young age. Most of the time he's good about it, but I really think they were just playing, and according to him, both of the boys were doing it. However, Lane is considerably smaller than Opie.

I think our talk tonight is going to help matters, and we're going to be watching closely.
