Sharing a cabin with Cabin77

Once again, cabin77  and I find ourselves in a similar parenting situation.  (I think God does this because His sense of humor demands that we squirm at the same time.)

We are close friends with a couple who has taken in a pregnant 17-year-old who has nowhere else to live.  She is a lovely girl, and she is trying to turn her life around and do what is ( Read more... )

I'll let you know what we come up with! ;-) The DVD and curriculum that we've chosen for THE talk takes an abstinence view. I like it because it's not scary - THESE HORRIBLE THINGS WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T WAIT!!!!! But it does talk about consequences - both physical and emotional.

I'll pray for you! You pray for me!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear it takes the emotional into consideration. No one does that! Your body changes, you have all these urges you haven't had to deal with before and no one tells you that the feelings are normal and you'll get control of them eventually.

I wish I had good suggestions for you but I think you'll do just fine.

As to the judging vs. leading Opie down the right path I do have a suggestion. Adjust this to his level of understanding but you can tell him that God has a plan for how he wants us to live. That following God's plan makes our lives better because God always wants what's best for us. But that it's very hard to follow and often people make mistakes and it can make their lives harder. When that happens we go to God, ask His forgiveness and go forward.

Okay, maybe there's a reason my husband does the children's sermons and I handle usher duties.

all i would suggest is to follow your son's lead and answer the questions he asks. answer them simply and honestly~not too much detail. if he wants more detail, he will ask. when he changes the subject, he's done. good luck. i'll be thinking of you!

that's what I did. When I said the baby came from God's gift to married people called "sex," you should have seen the look on his face, but he never asked what sex is. I basically said what texasfan said, and he looked at me and said, "okay. Can I play PS3 now?"

*phew* skirted that one!
