okay, this would be the obvious place for a "hey! it's me!" comment...

also, this was the best discussion i could find of the one expanding ideal gas problem we were working on:

summary? temperature stays the same during irreversible, adiabatic expansions of an ideal gas. (no heat added or lost; no work done by the expanding gas)
