Unfreezing the Scoobies.

I was whistling as I sauntered down the hallway, and out into the massive driveway of the castle. A few of my cars were parked out there, and I decided to hit the security button on my keychain for the...the little cherry-red BMW. Yes, that would work. The car was cheerful but not flashy, bright and cute. It was one of my favorites, actually.

I couldn't explain how I felt. Dazed wouldn't be the right word. Confused definitely wasn't a strong enough word. Lethargic maybe? No. Nevertheless, my head was reeling.

I looked around the small area I was in, desperate to put the pieces together. The last thing I remembered was... what was the last thing I remembered?

"Welcome back to the world, Buffy Summers. If you'd be so kind, your clothing is on that chair over there."Warren. Of course. I should have known. After everything that had been going on the past... however long ( ... )

"Where are they? Willow, Xander, Spike? All of them. Where are they? Warren. Where is my sister?"I had to smile, genuinely admiring her spirit. If nothing else, my slayer had moxie. I clapped a little, turning back around to face her as soon as she was dressed ( ... )

"I'm impressed, Buffy. Really. After all you've been through, you still have the presence of mind to be angry. You're brilliant, you know that? I'm going to have fun with you."

How dare he be so cocky. I wanted to break through the glass that was seperating us and tear his little egotistical head off.

"Angry? You think this is anger?" I scoffed. "You know nothing Warren. Nothing. Why don't you let me out of here, and you can see just how angry I am."

"And when it's all over...I'll have you. You're too bright and too strong to not recognize the benefits of working with me, but we'll talk about that later. Right now, I'm sure you're incredibly confused and a lot more scared than you want to admit. Please, sit down."

I watched him motion to the chair next to me. There's no way I was going to let this little twerp tell me what to do. Not if I could help it.

"I think I'll stand. Thanks." I said sardonically.

"Moving on, let me explain a few things to you. You've been in cryogenic suspension for the past two years and a ( ... )

"Speaking of walking out of here. When is that going to be Warren? I want to see my friends and my sister."

"You're free to leave whenever you like, Buffy. I'm not holding you here, not at all. I want you to leave soon, as a matter of fact. But before you do, there are some things I ought to tell you."

"Giles. Where is he?""Mr. Giles is in the same sort of cryogenic suspension as the rest of your friends and family. He's safe, and no harm has come to any of them. And as for your comment earlier about showing me how angry you are ( ... )

I felt my hand tighten on Dawn's shoulder when Warren's gaze caught mine, and I tried hard not to look away, succeeding for only a moment before I couldn't bare it and turned my eyes back to Dawn.

"Don't.." I growled quietly when I heard Warren started to address Dawn, "Talk to her..." Willow's hand threaded with mine and I immediately held onto her tightly, standing as I found my voice. "You have no right.." What voice I had found failed me when the tape started rolling and I very quickly fell silent again.

Snow flickered on the screen for a moment as the tape wound down, and I continued to hold on firmly to Dawn and Willow. Warren smiled, looking for all the world as if it was his birthday, and found myself staring in disgust. I forced my hand to ease my grip on Dawn's shoulder, completely unaware that I had been squeezing it tighter the whole time.

Feeling Tara's grip increase on my shoulder made me feel safe and uneasy at the same time. Then she went and stood up for me which is cool...but probably stupid. But when I saw that video I just froze, oh my god...how can this be true...I want Buffy here and now.

It's great that Willow and Tara are here to protect me but I need my sister here so that I know that she really is ok. I spoke quietly. "C-can you send Buffy in please...and maybe, maybe get out." Shouldn't have said that...shoot.

"Why are you so obsessed with us? Why can't you just let us be?"

I'd only been half-listening to Willow's impertinent little rant, but at her final comment I turned to her with a bright, friendly smile that was absolutely chilling.

"Obsessed? Hardly, darling. You people are just pawns in my game. I'm simply bored--that's all this is. I could care less what happens to you, as long as it amuses me, really."

"He can't be serious. This is ridiculous! How fair is this anyway? Since you have the power to freeze us, apparently you must have some sort of power that we can't really fight against. Also, who cares if you have lots of money and you're very powerful. You're still the same. You're still a geek."Anya's remarks made me tilt my head back for a full-blown bout of laughter, absolutely delighted at her stupidity ( ... )

I was angered by how he was acting.

"Do not think that you have control over us. If I wanted to, I..."

I stopped myself when Tara's hand tighted around mine.

"Shutting up now"

I let go of Tara's hand and walked over to Anya. I helped her sit down. She was noticably shaken, I just wanted to make sure she was ok...she may annoy me, but for once we were in full agreement and no woman deserves what Warren was doing to her.

"Just so you know, you own no one. No woman is your property..."

Why did I feel a need to explain that?
