...that the marshmallow was invented in ancient Egypt? It was made from the sap of the marsh mallow plant mixed with ground nuts and honey, and was not only delicious, but a remedy for sore throats. The modern marshmallow is made with gelatin instead of marsh mallow extract, so its medicinal properties have been lost, sadly.
