So, my good friend the_arc5 wrote a brilliant piece of fanfiction for holmes_big_bang called The Case of the Dead Man's Secret.
I seriously cannot recommend this story enough. It's filled with her characteristic morbidly graphic, yet poetical descriptions, the text flowing around gruesome detail with almost soothing beauty. The reader sits, transfixed, incapable of glancing away as the plot reveals itself in all its gut-wrenching detail.
This is not only a beautiful slash fiction, it is a truly intriguing detective story, quite worthy of sharing a shelf with the material that inspired it, if only Conan-Doyle had allowed himself to give literary voice to the subtext.
