Title: Not so TORN
Pairing/Group: Ohkura x Shige
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 600+
Notes: Something quick. This was from my first attempt at JE Hols fic, but I think it makes for a better short one-shot. I apologize for the lame title.
Summary: Shige tries not to be jealous of TORN.
Ohkura likes to drink, and he likes it even more when there are friends around. Shige is, sadly, often his default friend. So when Ohkura’s in Tokyo looking for a buddy and calling Shige for the umpteenth time that night, Shige thinks it would be wise to just say yes and appease the man. He supposes his essay can wait a little longer; it’s not due until next week anyway.
The pair (or the devilishly handsome duo, as Ohkura likes to drunkenly cheer) camps out at a bar near Shige’s place drinking scores of beers and gins and tonics. Ohkura giggles the night away at short skirts and stupid stories of Kanjani8’s concert adventures and Shige tries his best to follow, but if it’s hard to understand Kanjani stories sober, it’s that much more difficult when inebriated.
Ohkura laughs at yet another story of Yokoyama being an idiot that really isn’t very funny, and then he smiles a whimsical half-smile, “We’re doing a duet.”
Shige thinks the girl at the table next to them has great legs, and is about to say so, when Ohkura’s words vaguely register in the back of his drunken brain. “What?” he glares at Ohkura’s face, which is beginning to look a bit fuzzy around the edges. Shige thinks Ohkura looks better that way. “What? We’re doing a duet?”
Ohkura guffaws. Very loudly. The bartender wipes the counter extra roughly and pretends wisely not to notice as Ohkura claps a hand on Shige’s back. Shige wheezes. “Nooooooooooooooooo,” Ohkura giggles, “No, Ryo-chan and me!” Shige swallows at the name. Ohkura doesn’t notice, “It’s called TORN! Get it? We put our names…initials...what’s it…we smashed them together! Name smash!”
“It’s called an acronym, you idiot,” Shige mutters, getting up and testing his leg strength carefully. He’s stable. Clearly he hasn’t had enough to drink that night; after all, he hasn’t even cried. With a sigh, he grabs Ohkura and lugs him outside, apologizing to the bartender as he picks up the tab.
Ohkura smiles sweetly, “Shige. You are amazing.” Shige huffs in response, pulling Ohkura’s limp body to the curb and waving a cab down. Ohkura is heavier that Shige expected, and Shige is reminded of his lack of upper body strength. Time to hit the gym. Then Ohkura burps, and Shige is reminded of the idiot in his arms.
“I know I am,” Shige deadpans.
Ohkura shakes his heads violently. “No you don’t,” Ohkura whines, as Shige shoves Ohkura into the car and gives the cab driver directions to his apartment. Shige squeezes in the car beside him and sighs when Ohkura’s head lolls heavily onto Shige’s shoulder. “No you don’t think you are. You act all cocky, but really, you have one of the lowest self esteems…ever!” Ohkura gesticulates and nearly hits Shige in the face. Shige hopes his shoulder is as bony as Koyama claims it is, though Koyama’s one to talk.
It takes about two minutes for Ohkura to fall asleep, and Shige finally can finally think in buzzed silence. Ohkura’s words throughout the night replay through Shige’s head. TORN. What the hell kind of lame name was that anyway?
Sure, it’s not like Shige and Ohkura could do a duet together even if they had wanted to, considering the fact they’re both in different groups, but. Sometimes Ohkura’s relationship with Ryo makes him just a little jealous. Just a little. Shige doesn’t really know, because just thinking about it makes him queasy. Or maybe that’s the alcohol talking.
Ohkura wakes up as Shige carries him through his apartment door and starts talking like he never stopped, “We’re doing a duet. For our summer concerts. Ryo-chan and I,” Ohkura giggles, “The fans are going to love it.” Shige sighs but Ohkura doesn’t seem to notice. “We wrote it together! It’s sexy!”
Shige oohs and aahs appropriately, but as he dumps Ohkura onto his couch and tosses a blanket over the body, he vaguely wonders why Ohkura is telling him all this.
More importantly, Shige wonders why he cares.
