Back in MY Day . . . .

Oh, sweet shrieking Jesus.

From Wikipedia:

Around the turn of the century, Boy George collaborated on songs with dance-oriented acts.

Around the turn of the century! I know that was just a few years ago, but that phrase, referring to something I was around for, makes me feel older than time.
Remember my post the other day about words that you ( Read more... )

How about "slacker"? Does that bring about twitchiness?

Your playlist is amazing. I'm going to peruse it and download the things I either don't have or have simply forgotten about!

Toad the Wet Sprocket! Oh my goodness... memories. *sighs*

Of course, your includage of several Duran Duran songs makes you a favorite of mine.

Nope, slacker is just fine. I can't really explain that one.

I love that playlist. It started out as The Playlist o' Autumn! and sort of grew into The Playlist o' All-Year Fabulous Songs!, but The Playlist o' Autumn! sounds better.

There are Duran Duran songs on most of my playlists. They've been the soundtrack of my life since I was ten-ish. I can't imagine their music not being included in something that's about memories, you know?

A few weeks ago, jadefu and I were listening to the radio in the car, very likely on the way to or from derby practice, and they played "an old U2 song".

"Old?! That came out while we were in college!" I protested.

"Yeah, but U2 has stuff from the 80s!"

You remember back around the time we were in high school is when "oldies" stations started popping up, and we knew it was the stuff our parents listened to in the 50s and 60s and it was so different from modern stuff-weird and totally foreign feeling? Yeah. That music was 25 years old. Kids these days think the height of 80s New Wave electronica sounds quaint.

I just thought of a word I hate:

"bazaar"

It sounds like a place where uptight Christian women with conservative hairstyles who only fuck missionary style go to deal in Macramé and shaws.

Oh, the turn of THAT century. But Boy George was already well passed his prime by then. We are all getting very very old I think.

As for 'slacks' - that is what my mother used to call trousers - what does it mean now? And talking of trousers, I hate the use of 'pants' to mean trousers, since pants are what men wear on the inside (except Superman of course).
