Feral and Pointy

I've been thinking more about the Crazy Eddie situation. I just don't think I can do the cat wrangling thing well enough to brush the matty bits out of him. I'm thinking maybe I should take him to the groomer. That'll be fun, don't you think ( Read more... )

How does Crazy Eddie respond to being held by the scruff ? My cats, both of whom are highly skilled ninja warriors, tend to go kinda limp and start purring really loudly when I hold them by the scruff, which does aid with brushing or grooming. It's really more helpful if someone else holds the scruff so you have two hands free, one to brush and one to fend off pointy objects that may come stabbing your way. But that aided me immensely when I discovered they didn't seem to mind being held that way.

Yeah, good luck catching Crazy Eddie to try holding him by the scruff. It's only happened once since he came home with me in March, and it was Not A Good Thing. He'll let me pet him before I feed him now, and while he's eating, but he has a strict Do Not Touch rule for all times other than meal time. He's still mostly feral, though, so it's to be expected.

Poor guy. At least he's got a good home now and can relax a little. So many feral cats and dogs probably never get the chance at a good home just because they've become (understandably) leery of humans. Kudos to you for that and hopefully Crazy Eddie's matting won't become an issue.

This is, unfortunately, Crazy Eddie. The cat lived at a rescue shelter for seven years as a feral who was deathly afraid of people. He's still not a fan. If someone were to grab him by the scruff, he's probably pee himself and then unload with the sharp/pointy ends.

When Sasha needed to be groomed to have mats removed they offered a 'naptime' alternative. ;) She was very good throughout her bath- however, she offered choice commentary on their parentage and lack of marriages... But when they got out the clippers? Whoa... So they gave her a little shot and she went to sleepytime for awhile. They clipped her, and I brought her home, and all was good. Save for her being exceedingly pissed off that she now had a lion cut... and a pretty yellow bow tied to the fur on the back of her neck... :)
