In-Depth, Thought-Provoking Movie Review

Jul 08, 2006 09:04

So, Pirates? Absolutely, squeefully wonderful. I was thoroughly entertained. It was fantabulous, and I loved every second of it. And Captain Jack Sparrow! Oh dear god, Captain Jack Sparrow. And Norrington was gloriously scruffy and yummy. And Captain Jack Sparrow! I want to see it again. And again and again and again. And perhaps lick ( Read more... )

They've probably been waiting their whole lives for an excuse to dress up as pirates in public :P

I put a lot of thought into that review! ;)

I hope Todd enjoys it as much as I did. I thought it was wonderful. It didn't try to be something it wasn't, and that goes a long way for me, you know? It was all about being a fun, funny, shiny movie, and it did a great job of that. Also, Captain Jack Sparrow!

So, how's it going?

I am trying to work, but having trouble focussing on dumb ol' work!

Silly, silly work! I actually have some down time right now, which is wonderful because I'm in the mood to organize and sort and tidy, and this gives me a chance to do exactly that. I'm rearranging drawers and filling paper trays and even considering printing new labels for file folders!

Because for that brief moment they were REAL pirates.. and could say "Arrrrr" with no hesitation. The real impressive thing is to attend a movie dressed like a pirate when the movie you are watching ISN'T about pirates.......

;p

Arrrrrr!

I am all ready for my darling Norrington, in all his dirty dirty dirty glory. With his long hair. And his beard. It's quite a scruffy beard. As I recall from personal experience, anyway. ;)

Oh, he is spectacular in his scruffiness. He totally rocks the dirty hot look. Mmmm. Remember his interview in the special features thingy of the first DVD, when he talks about looking like an ice cream or a cupcake or something when comparted to Johnny Depp's and Orlando Bloom's characters? He most certainly does not look like an ice cream in this one. Which is not to say that I wouldn't want him for dessert, because yum. Still, though, Captain Jack Sparrow!

Word on Jack Sparrow. He is walking sex. But I really really REALLY have it bad for the new angry scruffy dirty Norrington. JESUS GOD. As if he wasn't hot enough, now we've added the bad boy angle. Just kill me. Or send him straight to my house. Either one.

Charming and astute. THAT HOT GUY thinks I am charming and astute. ::dies::

I know! I am, again, dying of the envies.

He's so hot as the scruffy bad boy, and the sword fight with Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner? Oh dear god yes. There is sweating and running about and destruction and dirty, dirty Norrington and glorious Sparrow and oh my.

Okay, so I just had an epiphany. You know Go Fug Yourself, of course. I was going to suggest that you send this review into a newspaper of some sort because it's WONDERFUL! So instead, we should start a web site where we (and a few other women, of course) review movies! We could call it Snarky Reviews or something. It would be a hit!

In other news, I went to see A Knight's Tale in the theatre five times. In garb. Which means bodice. We did it because it was fun and we felt a connection with the people in the movie. We were one of them! In reality, we were sad little people who didn't have much of a life. But I must say, we always removed our hats. Because that's just rude to flaunt your feathers.

Thanks for the review!

From the sound of trista's review, it doesn't sound like the feathers were much in the way of anyone viewing the movie. If they were, that would be bad.

But I have to say that it could be fun to dress up to go to a movie. And then you could all go have a party afterward or something, and talk about the movie, continuing the enjoyment. :-)

That sounds like it could be fun, but it didn't seem that anything remotely like that was going on with this group. They seemed to arrive in twos and threes, skulk through the lobby in miniherds, stand around uncomfortably while waiting for the movie to start, and argue about the seating arrangement. From the sounds of things, they all came from home and they were all going home right after. No one seemed comfortable in the costumes and no one seemed very comfortable with the attention, even though the impression they gave was that they very much wanted that attention.

Ooh, how much fun would that be?! Hee! Of course that would also mean I'd have to go to more movies. And eat more glorious Trans Fat Butter Glop of Joy! *sigh* How I suffer for my art. ;)

The difference between you going to A Knight's Tale and these people going to Pirates is that you had fun. They didn't seem to. It seemed more about attracting attention, but they seemed really uncomfortable with that attention. It just all seemed so awkward and uncomfortable. Awkward and uncomfortable with tall feathers, even. And who wants that?
