Are You Not Entertained?!

Dec 29, 2005 13:21

It is evidently my LiveJournal job to entertain and relieve boredom. *shriek* I think I can expect a pink slip soon.

So. I've done this before, but it was ages ago.

Let's plan a FriendBot slumber party. I'll host. Tell me what you're going to wear, what we're going to do, and what snacky junk we're going to eat and drink.

alcestis is going to be jealous when she sees 'em - I have pajamas with sock monkeys on them!

Oh, how cute! I think you're right, too, about alcestis being jealous!

So what snacky junk food are we going to eat? What sort of slumber party gamey activity-ish things are we going to play or do or whatever?

Well, we have to play Mash. And we have to prank call boys and paint our toenails purple and rat each other's hair. For junk food I nominate pixy stix and flavored seltzer. (Optionally together.)

I wish I still had my "Mystery Date" game!

Mash! I always liked marrying John Taylor, driving a Corvette, and being a model.

What is Mystery Date?

I will wear my huge fleece sleeper thingy that is basically a big blanket with holes for my hands, feet and head :) It's sort of like a baby sleeper, but without the feet.

I'll bring peanut butter rice krispie treats and tea :)

I will wear my Halloween LJ pants and my Jack Skellington tank top. I will bring rice krispies treats and also EZ Cheese and Ritz crackers. We will watch movies with cute boys in them. We might even prank call cute boys, even though we are far too old for this to be amusing (and it will be!). I will also bring my big box of all the free makeup I've gotten in the mail lately. We will do crazy makeovers and listen to Duran Duran, and pretend to be models in videos from the 80s. We will dance like fools.

You so totally have to come to all of my sleepovers for the rest of forever.

As for the Duran Duran, we will repeat any song that any attendee considers a favorite as often as requested, so we'll most likely hear The Chauffeur a gazillion times. Shall we play the albums in chronological order? Also, we will hang up our Duran Duran posters, because what is a slumber party without Duran Duran posters?

We shall hang them all up, using that sticky blue goo that people used to claim made it easy to hang posters without the mess of tape or tacks, but in fact was worse because it would leave greasy spots on your walls and posters. But we will use it all the same, in celebration of the 80s. Our hair will be large and fierce. Our eyeliner will extend all the way to our hairlines ( ... )

Every time I think I can't heart you more, you prove me wrong. We need to figure out a way to fold the US so Minnesota is closer to New Jersey. We must have slumber parties!

Wait...didn't anyone tell you before that this was your job?? =O I think you were the last to find out!

I've decided to attend the slumber party wearing:
*purple pajama pants and top, decorated with a design of winged muffins and mice with goggles and a scarf for old-timey flying
*thick green socks
*a tshirt under the pajam top, because I might be cold. No one will see it, but I'll let you in on the secret that the shirt says "sprinkled" in brown letters.

We will talk about pies that should exist and maybe playing the card game Fluxx. We will also listen as you sing about people you know at work.

We will eat spicy peanuts, red pepper hummus with pita bits, bagel chips, and cookies (chocolate and carmel chip).

To drink, we will probably have hot tea for me, water, soda, and some kind of wine.

No, no one told me! Why am I always the last to know these thing?

Hummus! What is a sleepover without hummus?

You so don't want to hear me sing, but I will tell you stories about Vern and about the former wrestler, who, unlike Vern, is a cool guy. I'll tell you stories about my time at Wendy's, too. They're usually good for a laugh.

Tell me about Fluxx? I don't think I know it.

Also? We could talk for hours about the pies. Oh yes.

Fluxx is a card game that Todd and I are addicted to. http://wunderland.com/LooneyLabs/Fluxx/
We play it all the time and we recently got more Looney Labs (http://www.looneylabs.com/) games, which also totally rock. My favorite new one we have it the card game Aquarius (http://wunderland.com/LooneyLabs/Aquarius/Default.html).

Todd has joined the Looney Labs cult or something. It has an active online community.

Well, I haven't really said much about Fluxx. It's a game where the goal (way you win) can change at any moment and so can the rules. It's awesome.

Re the party: I'm betting that even if you're unsure of your singing skills, you'll be in such good humor that you won't be able to resist singing a few stories to us all. We will be enraptured.

Ooh, that looks like fun!

Have you played Skip Bo or Phase 10? They're card games that in my mind go into the same category as Uno, and they are fantabulous. They're fun family-type games, but also fun with a group of friends.

The singing thing? It's not that I'm unsure of my singing skills. I'm very sure that I have none. My voice, when combined with a microphone, is a weapon of mass destruction. However, I will be happy to write the songs and have someone else sing them to you all. ;)

I shall wear a green tank top, my Guinness jammie bottoms, and my fuzzy bunny slippers that glooowww in the dark.

I shall bring body markers and nail polishes and such, and we shall become merry heathen.

And we shall consume the flesh and blood of snacks and cakes, and LO SHALL WE BECOME MIGHTY.

And of COURSE, Truth or Dare.

Yes! Ooh, maybe that's what I'll entertain The FriendBots with next time I'm called upon to relieve boredom. The "Dare" part might be a bit of a challenge. Perhaps we'll make it Truth or Truth instead.

Naw, you can make it truth or dare, just the dare involves posting things.  You can refuse to take the dare, but that means dropping out of the game.  (That both places boundaries maintenance in the handes of the dare-ee, and keeps the game as fair as possible.)  And of course, some things involve If-Then statements - If you have a digital camera of sorts, take a picture of you... wearing... I dunno, bath suds on your head.  (Keep it fun!)
