Gorilla Refuses to let go of her dead baby

BERLIN (AP) -- A gorilla at a zoo in the German city of Muenster is refusing to let go of her dead baby's body several days after it died of unknown causes.

Apes can experience mourning and loss, to the point where I believe one young gorilla or chimp died while mourning it's mother. Denial, perhaps, across the hominids.

I think human females might do the same thing, if society would allow them to. Losing a baby might be the most devastating thing that could happen to someone.

My thoughts go to the ending of Stephen King's book Cujo.
