25 of my favorite albums... (not in order, and not all of them. plus I even cheated by sticking in some "anthology" best of stylee's to get more in there. eh well...)
I am surprised and pleased that all my friends have so many albums on their favorites that I also own and love. I always expect people to be much bigger music snobs than they actually are, or something. I share seven of yours.
I'm intrigued by your choice of On Avery Island, too. I feel like I need to give that another chance now. :)
i tried to pick a fair sampling of stuff I liked when I was younger that I still like now - big time faves kinda stuff... plus stuff I didn't discover until more recently but really love. like you said, my list could have been 50 or more and it still wouldn't get everything in. not to mention that sometimes your favorite song by a certain band isn't necessarily on the album that's your favorite (or the rest of the album might not be so great) plus cheating by totally choosing a bunch of comps helped a little hehehe... ;)
re: On Avery Island -- I heard that one first and the sheer emotional punch and fantastic imagery really hit me. I like on the Aeroplane over the Sea, but On Avery Island has some fantastic magical quality that strangely draws out weird emotions when I listen to it. I can visualize characters and places and rooms and colors for every song. I think it's a lot more intense and powerful, even if it might not have the more mature musical sense that Aeroplane had.
