In terms of sick!Dean fic, though - the fact the being on steroids will lower his immune system - plenty of opportunity for writing. (I'm a terrible, terrible person)

If they were on an episode of House and it was post S4.01, House would probably take them as a case just to find out what's up with the handprint.
If I were going to write that episode, I'd probably do it as a casefic where a reaper had gone rogue or something, sucking the life force out of people and weakening them. So the boys were at that hospital (on the look out for a shrigta) - and then Dean gets attacked too, and while he's slowly languishing Sam would have to solve the case.
Huh, know I almost want to write that minus the House.
