THE KING OF FIGHTERS XII

SO. KoF plot is taking shape, gang. :3

After talking with Nor the other day, we have decided that the tournament will be held the 24th through the 26th in canon, although I'm pretty sure it might end up lasting longer in reality. >.>

This is big info/signup post, any others made by either me and Lumi regarding this is just reminders/brackets.

Here’s the lowdown:

Kyo and Ash will post separately, talking about KoF this year and asking for two other people to join their team, also inviting anyone else that wants to participate to form teams of three. They will need to provide their own means of worldhopping (in Kyo’s case) to Southtown, where the opening ceremonies will take place.

At the opening ceremonies, the formal teams and their matchups will be announced. The “Leader” of each team (Kyo and Ash are in the case of their teams) will step forward and draw lots to decide what team they will face in another section of the city.

The actual matches are set up as follows: one person from each 3-person team will fight each other until one is knocked out or surrenders, then the next member of the losing team steps forward. THERE ARE NO SWITCHOUTS UNLESS YOU ARE KNOCKED OUT OR SURRENDER. Whichever team loses all three members loses the match.

Depending on the number of actual teams we get, there will be NPC teams as well. For sure, Iori Yagami will be in as a NPC single entry for canon reasons. This means if you knock him out, he will automatically lose, but don’t expect him to go down easy; he’s got a bone to pick with Ash.

I still have to smooth things over with the actual system for the matches, mostly what actually constitutes as a knockout in terms of the writing, but for sure there cannot be any outside interference or long-range weapons allowed. (*glares Dante-muse*) Otherwise the officials are pretty lax about what can and can’t happen. Just remember, NO KILLS ALLOWED. Serious injuries, yes. Killing, no.

Once we reach and finish the semifinals, the finalists will face a mid-boss team- Ash’s. Regardless of the outcome, Ash, Kyo and the finalist team will be transported to another plane, where Ash will attempt to take the Tsurugi no Kusanagi from Kyo’s body. This will trigger a short skirmish between the two, culminating in the Orochi seal breaking and Ash being possessed by the demon-god. The finalists and Kyo will then fight the Orochi-possessed Ash in order to save the world, but the fight will trigger some outside consequences in the normal world, mostly earthquakes.

Once everyone’s back at Southtown, the tournament will officially end with the finalist team winning. There might or might not be a victory celebration at Illusions afterward, it really depends on what everyone else wants to do.

Once I have a rough estimate of how many people are going to be participating, I’ll set the brackets up. I’ll be using a dicegen to figure out who will be facing who first, so it will truly be random.

Lumi, I hope you don’t mind having to sit out until the finals. xD If you want, you can take the reins for the Fatal Fury NPC team or Shingo and Benimaru’s team. Just let me know so that I have an idea of who’s all going to be in.

So, now that’s all said and done, any questions/comments are appreciated, and also reply here if you’re interested in participating. Also mention if you want to join Ash or Kyo’s team so we have that part figured out. Of course, the two will probably choose people that they know, so remember to take that into account before asking to be on their team.

Also, if you guys have suggestions for how to constitute knockouts, I’m all ears.
