@#$%^&

I was hoping to have a nice, relaxing day today. It's Veteran's Day, which my employer never observed until last year ... but thanks to a new Manager, we finally do. Hubby is working though, so I have the house to myself (unless you count the dogs) and I was hoping to get a few little chores done this morning (which I did, thankfully) and spend ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'm sure they will somehow ... but I can't imagine that it's going to be pleasant.

Oh, no! I hope they can fix the tooth with a minimum of pain!

Thanks! That makes two of us ... but I'm not too optimistic on that front, I'm afraid.

What rotten luck! Can they do one tooth at a time? And $3000 is way expensive for crown work. I have a crown and it didn't cost nearly that much.

I hope everything turned out all right.

Well, I'm back. The "details" are in my update post, but I do agree with you that $3,000 is way expensive. I think it was actually more like $2,730, but that's still too much.

Given my "emergency" status, it looks as if I'll be able to get at least the one done without having to pay them before the insurance reimburses me, but if they'll only do the one that way, I'm going to shop around a bit to see if I can get a better deal on the other two. There is a place in New Bern than only does crown work and I've heard they do good work and are much less expensive than a traditional dental office. It's worth checking out at least.

Eww..that sounds horrible. I haven't liked the dentist since I had my braces...too much time spent having other people's hands in my mouth...so I understand where you are coming from. Hope it all turned out alright.

It went better than I'd expected, but the bottom line is that there is crown work in my future. For the moment, I've been temporarily patched up, but will have to be extremely careful not to make the situation worse until it can be permanently fixed.

Dental visits are one of the things in life I dread most, so I'm really not looking forward to the next few weeks.
